15 killed in multiple attacks on U.S. - Mexico border.

According to the local law enforcement officers, at least 15 civilians have been killed in multiple gun attacks on the U.S. - Mexico border. The gunmen staged the attacks around several neighboring areas in Reynosa, the Mexican border city. The state agency of Tamaulipas constantly coordinated with the security forces in this matter. In a statement, it stated that the attacks began early in the afternoon on Saturday. It was mainly focused on several neighboring areas in the eastern part of the city that border McAllen and Texas.

The agency disclosed the death of a person during an attack on police near a border bridge. They, however, are not yet clear if the victims under attack were random citizens or were the target of the gunmen.

Until the last information received, they have made only one arrest in the matter. Also, they have arrested a man of suspicion who had two women in his car’s trunk. Possibly, the women had got kidnapped, said the authorities, concerned. Further, they have seized three vehicles that were allegedly involved in the matter.

The attacks mobilized the Army, National Guard, state police, and other agencies. Hence, they were all working in coordination at present.

Maki Esther Ortiz Domínguez, the Mayor of Reynosa, sent a tweet that demanded the attacks to be clarified and asked for protecting the citizenry.

The U.S. - Mexico border areas has been a sensitive area in the past too. Various drug smuggling cartels have been dominating this area that later ended. The area’s criminal activity is dominated by the Gulf Cartel for quite some time now. However, authorities also know of the fractures within the gang. The cartel is the prime suspect.
