Minor stabbed to death by a 23-year-old man over the refusal of a marriage proposal. Source- India Today
The news of a heinous incident in Gujarat's Jetalsar area came forward earlier today. A 23-year-old man stabbed an innocent 16-year-old girl. The man did this over the refusal of his marriage proposal.
The crime took place on March 17th in Jetalsar village of Jetpur taluka of Raikot, Gujarat. The incident took place when the girl was with her brother at their home. The victim was dragged out of the house and stabbed 32 times till she was dead. The victim's brother tried saving her but the man also stabbed him 4-5 times.
The police arrested the man for the murder of 16-year-old Shrusti Raiyani. The man was identified as Jayesh Sarvaiya.
The victim's father has demanded justice. He called for strict action against the accused.
In response to this brutal incident, BJP state president CR Patil met the victim's family. He said that justice will prevail and guilty would be punished.
Congress working president Hardik Patel and NCP leader Reshma Patel also met the family. They raised questions over the law and order situation of the state.
A police officer of Jetpur Police Station said," Jayesh had been following the victim, who was a student of Jetpur Girl’s School. He was following her for quite some time. On Tuesday evening Jayesh came to Shruti's house and asked her to accept his marriage proposal. But the girl refused. So he dragged her out of the house and stabbed her 32 times."
The entire Jetalsar village observed bandh in the wake of the murder of an innocent teenage girl. Shops and marketplaces were closed down for one day. The police also deployed security forces in Jetalsar to ensure security.
