4 police officers including the Station house officer (SHO) at Kurwar got suspended on June 3 as an accused identified as Rajesh Kori (35) died under suspicious circumstances in the lockup of a police station. The person was accused of kidnapping a minor girl (age 15). Under the Kurwar police station area, a minor girl went missing in a village for the last four days. The relatives accused Kori of being behind the case. Arvind Pandey, the SHO of Kurwar police station, had taken him into custody. Vipin Mishra, the Superintendent of Police of Sultanpur informed, “Rajesh Kori, a resident of Jagdishpur village in Kurwar, died at the police station under mysterious circumstances. He accused him of kidnapping a girl from his neighborhood. Both were tracked down and brought to the police station on Thursday.” He added the girl was sent home, keeping Kori under police custody. Police first took Kori to the Community Health Centre in Kurwar and then shifted to the district hospital. The doctors declared him brought dead. A police officer said, “A post-mortem examination will be done by a panel of doctors and further action will be taken if needed." Arvind Pandey (Police station in-charge), Shastrajit Prasad (sub-inspector), Brijesh Kumar Singh (head constable) have been suspended. Besides, they have taken an action against home guard Bholendra for laxity and dereliction of duty.
