On April 3, Saturday, police arrested 3 smugglers near Hoshiarpur district’s Thuana village, Chandigarh. Around 8kg of heroin was recovered. According to the information received through a tip, the accused smuggled heroin from Pakistan for further supply. The car got intercepted and while searching, police seized eight kg of heroin. They hid it in a cavity created near the radiator of the SUV. The three accused included Sukhwinder Singh- a resident of Channanwal-Barnala, and Manpreet Singh and Jagdeep Singh, both residents of Patiala were arrested. Navjot Singh Mahal, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) informed, “Eight packets carrying 1kg heroin each were recovered from a nook inside the bumper of the SUV (HR 26 CD 0072)." Sukhwinder Singh is known to have several drug smuggling cases registered against him. He is also linked with drug smugglers from Patiala - Lahoriya and Amrik Singh.
