On April 15, six members of a gang were arrested during a raid in the Verka locality of Amritsar. They were wanted in 29 cases. There were 6 more members who managed to escape. The six arrested are identified as Vishal Kumar, Akshey Kumar, Jobanjit Singh, Ranjodh Singh, Jaspinder Singh, and Jaskaran Singh. Police found two pistols, two sharp-edged weapons, and the same number of stolen motorcycles. Police are in search of Prince of Nangli village, and Suraj, Harpreet Singh, Money Singh, Sandeep Singh, Lovish Malhi, and Karan. All of them are from the Majitha Road area. Sukhchain Singh, Amritsar police commissioner had formed several teams to nab the accused as the gang had recently looted 17 filling stations in Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Tarn Taran districts. Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, the Deputy commissioner of police said: “The gang members were arrested following a tip-off. Besides looting cash from petrol pumps, they robbed two cars, four two-wheelers, snatched four mobile phones, shot two persons in Nangli village, and are wanted in the murder of a woman at the 88-Feet Road in Amritsar.” The DCP said, “We are trying to identify those from whom the accused had brought illegal weapons." There have been a number of cases registered against the gang members - 12 in Amritsar city, 14 in Amritsar-rural, 2 in Tarn Taran, and 1 in Ludhiana. The arrested accused disclosed that they were planning a bank robbery in Haryana.
