63 Kg Marijuana seized from onion godown in Mumbai

The worth of the Marijuana is 9 Lakhs and 63 kg seized by police in a raid

A civil engineer turned drug peddler was trying to sell drugs worth 9 lakhs in Mumbai. The city police seized 63 Kg Marijuana (illegal drugs) and arrested the peddler. The Kurar Police Station officials said the drugs were hidden in the sack of onions in a godown.

Police identified the accused as Sachin Salunke. He is a native of the Ahmednagar district in Mumbai. During the lockdown period, the accused shifted to Mumbai from Odisha to find some work. He rented a room for vegetable storage and started selling vegetables due to the pandemic.

"We received a tip-off that drugs were hidden in the godown. We then raided the place. The godown was fully packed with onions. During the search, we found three sacks of drugs hidden between onions," the report quoted Prakash Bele, Senior Inspector, Kurar police station.

The police also added that the peddler had already found a buyer for this drug. The accused said that it was his first trial at drug dealing. He brought the drugs from Odisha hiding in the vegetable sack.

The law booked the accused under the sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Act.
