7 Drown After Boat Overturns in Rajasthan, Local Jump In To Rescue


The villagers on the boat were crossing from one bank to another when the incident took place


A boat overturned in the Chambal river in Rajasthan’s Kota district this morning leaving seven people dead and fourteen missings. 25 to 30 people were on the boat and the site of the accident is close to the Bundi district.


The villagers jumped into the water to save the people on the boar before the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force reached the spot. 7 bodies were found and the search for missing people is still going on. The police assumed that the missing people have swum to the other bank of the river for safety.


A compensation of ₹1 lakh will be provided to the families of who died in the accident by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The CM expressed his condolences and tweeted, “The incident of a boat overturning near the Chambal in Kota is unfortunate. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the accident.” Eyewitnesses informed that some people had also taken their motorcycle on the boat.
