72 year-old lady accused of being involved in drug trade along with others

Five alleged drug dealers were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police on Saturday while investigating an inter-state drug trade operation. Heroin and Amphetamine tablets ( called Yaba in Cossipore) have been seized by the STF from these drug dealers, two of whom were based in Assam and Manipur.


Along with this, the Police took hold of two vehicles previously utilized as business transport by the accused.



The Yaba pills weighed 17.25 kilograms and the entire drug seized from the vehicles as well as the drug dealers themselves were worth 17.5 crore INR in the international grey market.


The Assam based drug dealer was identified to be a lady named Pravati Devi aka Pabitri Devi Jaiswal. She is a 72-year-old who lived in Bokajan in Karbi district.


The accused drug lords from Bengal have been identified as Piyarul Islam, 40, and Sadikul Sk, 31. Both were residents of Suti in Murshidabad district.


The remaining two belonged to Moreh in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district. They were Kartik Naidu, 27, and Rakesh Thapa, 26.


According to the STF official statement, the Yaba pills weighed 17.25 kilograms and the entire drug seized from the vehicles as well as the drug dealers themselves were worth 17.5 core INR in the international grey market.
