9 killed, 3 injured in a car-truck collision in Agra

The SUV was carrying 12 people when the dreadful event took place.

This comes in from the Etamauddaula area of Uttar Pradesh’s Agra where an excruciating collision between a Scorpio SUV and a truck led to the death of 9 people and injuries to 3. The incident took place early morning. The Senior Superintendent of Agra police said that the injured people have been admitted to the hospital.

The incident occurred on the Agra-Kanpur highway under the Etamauddaula police station area around 5 am. According to the local eyewitnesses, the driver of the SUV dozed off and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle was plated with the number of Jharkhand. The vehicle jumped to the opposite lane, crossing the divider. It went further to collide head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

According to the sources the driver of the SUV was from Jharkhand and the passengers were from Phulwaria in Bihar. After the accident, the truck driver and the cleaner fled the scene.

The police on reaching the spot, helped the passengers get out who was stuck in the crushed SUV. The police personnel had to cut chunks of the SUV to help them out.

The SUV had the number plate JH13D5029 and was registered under the name of Md Hifzur Rehman from Chhatra in Jharkhand. The SUV was carrying 12 people when the dreadful event took place. All of them were coming from Gaya, Bihar. The deceased have been identified as Guddu Kumar (17), Nagendra Kumar (15), Surendra Kumar (17), Vipin, Babloo Prajapati, Vikas Kumar, Rajesh (26), and Aman. The injured were Sujit, Suraj Dev (35), and Chotu.
