A 28-year-old woman named Deepakshi Choudhary got arrested after she ran over a 79-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife. She lost control of the vehicle in Dwarka. Police said the couple was out for an evening walk (around 6:30 pm) on Sunday, April 4.

Deepakshi came out of the car, went to the rear side of the vehicle and called somebody after taking her mobile phone from the car. People gathered as the incident took place in front of a mosque and tried to rescue the victims by pushing the hatchback. A senior police officer said, "The car was removed, and they were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries." During the investigation, she said that she was thinking about something and thus she could not spot the elderly couple. They have registered an FIR against Chaudhary under sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). She got arrested and later released on bail. They also seized her car. Police also informed that she was not under the influence of alcohol.
The children settled in the US were informed about the incident. The bodies were handed over to their son when he reached Delhi for the last rites.
