A car - lorry collision in Kerala killed 5.

(Source of image: The Hindu) A head-on collision between a car and a fully loaded lorry killed 5 people on the Kozhikode-Palakkad highway. The incident took place on June 21, at around 4:45 am at Pulinjode nearby Ramanattukara. They identify the deceased as Asainar, Muhammed Zahir (26), Nazeer, Subair, and Thahir Shah (23), all hailing from the Palakkad district. Residents along with police, fire, and rescue personnel took out the bodies and shifted them to Kozhikode Medical College hospital. Police said that the Bolero car hit the cement-laden lorry at a sharp curve that was completely damaged because of the impact of the collision, and all five died on the spot. The deceased were returning from Calicut International airport. The reason behind the accident is still not known. Sources said there was a heavy downpour at the time of the mishap. According to the lorry driver, the car overturned thrice. He said that he had done no wrong and that the car was traveling at a great speed. Police say that there were around 15 people in three vehicles including the one that met with the accident. There were 2 more vehicles accompanying the car that met with the accident. The police are looking into why so many youths were going and returning from the airport, as they took six youths into custody to question them. CCTV footage is being checked and a detailed probe has begun. Preliminary reports say that liquor bottles were found at the place of the accident.
