Rescue and relief work underway after a portion of a four-story building collapsed on another house, at Rajjak Chawl in Kherwadi, Bandra (East) in Mumbai. (Source of image: India TV) The Wall of a four-story building collapsed at Rajjak Chawl in the Kherwadi area (Bandra, east), killing a 28-year-old and leaving 5 injured. The incident took place on June 7, at around 1:45 am. A police official said, “11 people were rescued safely by the fire brigade, and the local public rescued another 6 before the fire brigade reached the site. The injured were sent to Bhabha and VN Desai Hospitals." The deceased is identified as Riyaz Ahmad (28) who was declared dead on arrival at VN Desai Hospital. While Nural Haq Haidar Ali Sayyad (21) suffered minor injuries. The four injured are under treatment and their condition is stable. They are identified as Rahul Mohan Khot (22), Rohan Mohan Khot (22), Lata Mohan Khot (48), and Salman Atik Khan (24). A civic official informed that the four-story structure crashed onto a two-story structure next to it. Also, the heavy rains might have led to structural faults in the house.

Zeeshan Siddique, the Bandra MLA tweeted, "Update on the Bandra East Structure collapse- It's past 6 am now, locals have formed human chains & are helping fire brigade clear the debris to make sure no one is stuck. Have been requesting the BMC for 3 hours now to send laborers but only 2 are on site."
