A Shining light for Howrah as it saw drop in the containment zones

Kolkata: The city of Howrah saw a shining hope as it witnessed a vast drop in its containment zones. The zones have been decreased from 74 to 22 in just a mere one and a half months. Another big update is that presently not a single area that comes under the supervision of HMC is in the containment zone.

Howrah Municipal Corporation had 12 containment zones on the 4th of November. District authorities revealed the destinations of Sankrail, Domjoor, Shyampoor, Aamta, & Bagnnan as the remaining containment zones destinations. District personnel also said that 4 out of 22 are in the Howrah-Sadar sub-division and the remaining 18 are in the Uluberia sub-division.


There are many widescale steps has been taken in the area to stop the spread of the disease and presently over 900 RT-PCR & 1600 rapid antigens test takes place in the city's areas.


Moreover, 2.5% is the positivity rate for RT-PCR tests and 1.2% is the rate of rapid antigens test. The city also possesses 1326 covid related beds and the ICU and bed occupancy rate is 75% and 40% respectively. Dr. Bhabani Das revealed that on average, the city gets 140 to 150 positive cases in a day.
