A woman in Chakhabib Rudhiya village of Samastipur in Bihar was gang-raped on May 25. The accused men left her hanging from an electric pole thinking she died. However, villagers later found her in an unconscious and critical state. These men targeted her when she went out to use the toilet in the morning. They took her to a deserted place and assaulted her. She got thrashed and threatened as she started resisting. After the woman became unconscious, the rapists who mistook her to be dead hung the naked body from an electric pole. The shocking incident came to light when the villagers spotted her and rushed her to a hospital in Dalsinghsarai. They later admitted her to the Sadar Hospital, where her condition remains to be critical and she cannot talk. As there was a wedding ceremony at the victim's residence, there were several laborers working in tents. Though the people behind this heinous crime are yet to be identified, locals claim the laborers must be behind the incident. The villagers later handed 7 workers to the police over their suspicion. Police are now questioning the laborers.
