Financial minister Nirmala Sitaraman stated, “out of 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, 1.56 lakh are already in service ready”.
According to the reports, an extra ₹19,041 crores will enable broadband connectivity to all remaining villages. Last year in August PM Modi announced broadband connectivity in all villages within 1000 days.
The government is implementing the BharatNet PPP model with a bundle of 9 packages in 16 states on a viability gap funding basis.
