Arunachal Pradesh government to strengthen APSSB recruitment process

ITANAGAR: After settling the famous cash-for-job scam in the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) that took place in March of 2020, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pema Khandu finally proclaims that his government will provide all support for strengthening the recruitment process under APSSB.

The CM promises that the newly formed robust recruitment system of APSSB will successfully produce a well-motivated workforce, that only aims to work for the development of the state.

He promises to prioritise the requirement of the board in terms of manpower and other facilities. The chief minister prioritises publishing the annual calendar of examinations, which will enable the completion of the entire recruitment process, starting from receiving of requisition to publishing of results within one year.


"APSSB is the biggest reform of the state government towards transparency and meritocracy. It is among the few boards in the country leading in proactive disclosure of information in the public domain, enabling candidates to access information without the need to file RTI," Mr. Khandu said.


Earlier in March 2020, 20 candidates got involved in the cash-for-job scam in APSSB. They had paid money to the officials. Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police had consequently registered two cases under Lower Division Clerk (LDC) job scam and Upper Division Clerk (UDC) job scam respectively, to identify the accused candidates who had paid money for selection in the skill test.


SIC had finally arrested 17 candidates, APSSB under-secretary, Kapter Ringu, and two data entry operators who were in connection to this case.


Covid-19 pandemic had hampered the course of the investigation. One month after the case was lodged, the national lockdown had started.


The case had instilled a feeling of uncertainty amongst the true aspiring candidates. However, with the upliftment of the quality of the recruitment process altogether, candidates can finally entrust the board and apply. The Board stays true to its integrity as well.
