Bank recovery agents arrested by NIA after raids in 30 places.
The national investigation agency (NIA) had conducted hunts on Thursday at 30 locations in Bengaluru with regards to the riots that had broken out on the night of 11th of August following a derogatory social media post by the relative of Congress MLA.
A bank recovery agent, Sayed Sadiq Ali was arrested by the NIA with the accusations of him having a connection with the riots. According to the NIA, the 44-year old was the key conspirator that led to the riots in the city last month. Four people got killed during the riot which includes three due to police firing.
NIA formally overtook the probe in the riots case on Tuesday and said that Ali had been absconding since the night of the riots.
The agency further said that it found airgun, pellets, sharp weapons, and iron rods during the searches. It also said some digital devices and many incriminating documents related to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Popular Front of India (PFI) were recovered in the raids.
Arrests of more than 300 people, including some SDPI members in connection with the riots have been registered.
