The Border Security Force(BSF) on Sunday foiled the plan of contraband across the border. The BSF nabbed four suspected drug smugglers from the Ajnala Tehsil area on the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar. One smuggler managed to escape.

According to the BSF, the suspects were roaming near the thorny fence with a plan to receive the consignment from another side of the border. The security forces found them suspicious and tried to arrest them. After a short firing, one smuggler managed to escape, while 4 of them arrested.

One smuggler was injured in a firing. However, he has been admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital and the other three are being interrogated.

The arrested men were identified as Bikramjit Singh, Vijay Singh, Navjot Singh, and Sarabjit Singh(injured one).

The BSF official informed that after the suspension, the smugglers were warned to surrender but they didn't follow the order.

"Five persons were noticed approaching towards the fence. The accused were challenged to stop by our troops but to no avail. Sensing danger, a shot was fired by our constable, which hit one of the accused.

After this, our team arrested four of the five persons, including the injured one. The fifth person managed to flee from the spot", he added.
