Cancellation of CBSE 10th Board Exams
The decision to cancel the 10th Board Exams comes after a meeting with the Prime Minister. The Government has canceled the CBSE 10th Board exams. The 12th Board exams are also postponed till May 30. An announcement about the 12th Board exams will be made after a review on June 1.
Basis of assessment of CBSE 10th boards students
For Class 10 CBSE students, results will be prepared on the basis of ''objective criterion''. The board will decide this criterion. If any candidate is not satisfied with their marks, they can sit for re-exams. Once the situation is relatively normalized, only then the re-exams will be conducted. Last year, CBSE devised a new scheme for the Class 10 students as well.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Education held a meeting about exams. There has been a rising demand for exam cancellation because of the pandemic.
Decisions that are undertaken in the meeting
In today's meeting with PM Narendra Modi, state ministers demanded a uniform policy. The meeting was not only about the cancellation of the CBSE board exams but for all 10th boards. There might be a uniform policy or guidelines coming in about board exams across all states.
The entire academic session has been held online this year. Hence, students also demanded online examination. Students, teachers have demanded a uniform policy for all state boards. This is to ensure equality for all students during admissions for higher education. Hence, an announcement for other boards might be underway.
Over 30 lakh students appear for Class X and Class XII board exams. Amid the rising cases of COVID-19, the situation for holding exams has become hostile.
Announcement from the Ministry Of Education
The Ministry of Education added in a press note, "The Board Exams for Class Xth to be held from 4th May to 14th June 2021 are hereby canceled."
They also added that the board exams of the 12th class are also postponed. " The board will review the situation on June 1st, 2021. Details will be shared subsequently. A notice will be shared at least 15 days before the start of the examination", the press note added.
India has recorded a whopping 1.84 lakh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. It is now the second worst-hit country in the world.
