Central Government has strictly warned of using 'CoWIN' app



On January 6, 2020, The Union Health Ministry warned all the people not to download and register themselves on CoWIN app, which is available on apps-store.


The Health Ministry on Wednesday said, “Some apps named ‘CoWIN’ created by unscrupulous elements to sound similar to the upcoming official platform of the government are on app-stores.”


The Health Ministry also said, “Do not download or share personal information on these. The MoHFW official platform will be adequately publicised on its launch.”


According to the information, the full form of this fake CoWIN app is ‘COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network’. This app will be used to manage and scale up the vaccination process. Which is to be rolled out soon in the country.


It has also been notified that via this application the government can coordinate the massive inoculation process and also come to the aid of health authorities monitor coronavirus vaccines in real-time.


It has been stated that this app shall be launched for the public uses. The beneficiary will be able to register themselves only via uploading personal documents like Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN and bank passbook and so on.
