Chopper Crash, CDS Rawat, and his Wife Among 13 Dead


Today, an Indian Air Force chopper carrying Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat crashed in the Tamil Nadu hilly region of Coonoor. According to official authorities, the accident occurred owing to poor visibility in the fog-stricken area. General Rawat's illness has been kept a secret by military officials.


In a tragic accident, General Bipin Rawat, Mrs. Madhulika Rawat, and 11 other passengers died. Gp Capt Varun Singh SC, DSSC's Directing Staff, is being treated at the Military Hospital in Wellington for his injuries.


Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister, is keeping an eye on the issue. Currently, he is not flying to the crash site. The crash has been briefed to Prime Minister Modi. The Mi-17V5 chopper took off from Sulur for Wellington, according to the IAF. According to PTI, Gen Rawat was on his way to the Defence Staff College in Wellington.


On Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee abruptly interrupted an administrative review meeting after she learned that an army chopper carrying Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat had crashed in Tamil Nadu. "We've received some unfortunate news. I'm taken aback. I'm at a loss for words to explain my sorrow. I'm going to end this meeting now "she stated as she walked out of the meeting room.



Anupam Kher, Urmila Matondkar, Kamal Haasan, and other movie stars took to Twitter on Wednesday to express their condolences following the death of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu. The Indian Air Force said Gen Rawat, his wife Madhulika, and 11 other individuals on board an Indian Air Force helicopter died in an accident near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday.
