Corpse of A Newborn Discovered On New Delhi's Raisina Road

Delhi: The newborn boy’s corpse was found lying on Raisina Road in Delhi. It was buried under sand as found by the police on Monday afternoon. The body was taken to a morgue of a government hospital. The parents are yet to be identified.


The body was said to be of a newborn. He still had the clip on his umbilical cord. But the due to long decomposition it had developed maggots.


The Deputy Commissioner stated, “A case of concealment of birth by secret disposal of the dead body under Indian Penal Code’s Section 318 has been registered at Parliament Street police station. Investigations in the case are being conducted to identify the newborn and circumstances that might have led to its death”.


The body’s discovery was reported to the police on Monday by a phone call at 1:40 p.m. A police team rushed to the National Media Centre. The corpse was buried in sand laid there for construction work.

The police will ask the contractor of the site for details of the truck that brought the sand. Later the search will be carried on for the hospital where the baby was born. This would facilitate locating the parents. The investigation is ongoing, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Eish Singhal.
