India's COVID-19 cases surge up to 51,12,431 with a hike of 94,400 new cases and 1120 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country had now 10.10 lakh active cases with the recovery rate being more than 78 percent. Maharashtra remains the worst affected state by the virus, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh.
India now seems to become the epicenter of the pandemic but the bright side shows the total number of recoveries, which stands up to 40,17,800. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari declares that he has been tested positive for Covid-19 and has isolated himself.
India is seeing a progressive rise in testing with one crore tests added in just 10 days, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said on Tuesday. Adding to this, The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director-General Balram Bhargava certified that reinfection was possible even though it was a “very rare” instance.
