E-pass free traveling permitted for Metro passengers


The e-pass system is going to eliminate from 18 January by Metro Railway governing system in Kolkata.

E-passes were introduced mainly to book time slots for proceeding after the lockdown was over.

Usually it was basic for all the travelers except the senior citizens who granted to travel without e-passes between 11:30am and 4:30pm. However, since November 20, children below 15 and women were granted to travel without an e-pass.

Hence, travelers who have smart cards can easily transit without an e-pass, though daily journey tokens for inconstant travel will not be permitted.

The Metro Authority have determined to develop more service from January 18 between Monday and Friday. The first metro will take off at 7am from Dum Dum and Kavi Subaah and 7:09 am from Noapara, as a result, last metro will leave at 9:30pm from Dum Dum and Kavi Shubash and 9:25pm at Noapara. No changes took place in services on Saturday and Sunday yet.
