UTTAR PRADESH: In a bizarre incident, a man allegedly beheaded his 17-year-old daughter in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district on Wednesday evening and then went to a police station with her severed head.

The accused confessed that he took the gruesome step in the heat of the moment after seeing his daughter in an objectionable position.
Sarvesh Kumar, the father, was a vegetable vendor in Pandeytara village under Majhila police station. According to reports, he spotted his daughter in a compromising position with youth and thought of teaching her a lesson.
The man beheaded his daughter with a sharp-edged weapon at Pandetara village. He proceeded towards the police station with her severed head. The locals panicked at the gruesome scene of the man carrying the bloody head.
The man, on video, is seen admitting to behead his daughter because he was displeased with her relationship with a man.
The victim was the eldest among four children – three girls and a boy.
Police brought the man to the Majhila police station, 143 km west of Lucknow.
Superintendent of Police Anurag Vats said the father had been arrested and further action was being taken. Sarvesh’s wife has also testified his deeds in her statement to the police, the SP said. Top police officers of the district reached the crime spot following the incident.
Uttar Pradesh has topped the list of states with the highest number of crimes against women in 2019, the latest data released by the National Crime Record Bureau in September last year showed.
It also had the highest number of crimes against female children under the POCSO Act with figures as high as 7,444 cases, followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
