Fire break out at Covid Hospital in Chhattisgarh kills 5 patients.

On April 17, a fire broke out in a hospital in Raipur killed 5 Covid patients. On the first floor of the Rajdhani hospital, the incident took place at 5 pm. Officials said that there were around 34 patients admitted in the hospital; and 9 in the ICU. It took two hours to douse the fire completely. Tarkeshwar Patel, a police official said, "Five persons have lost their lives in the incident. Other patients have been shifted to other hospitals. The investigation will be done."


Rahul Gandhi, the Senior Congress leader requested the state government to provide the family members of the victims with all the necessary support. He tweeted, "The news of the fire in the ICU of the hospital in Raipur is sad. My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. There is an appeal to the state government that all assistance should be given to the bereaved families during this difficult time." Also, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced a compensation of 4 lakh rupees to the victim's families.
