Food adulteration will cost Life Imprisonment in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Friday approved the amendment to provide life imprisonment for those who are indulged in food adulteration.


Governor Anandiben Patel has informed the assembly that relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code were amended to make a provision of life imprisonment for adulteration of food.


The government has announced the provision of life imprisonment for the conviction of the accused under the 'Milawat Pe Kasawat" campaign. The rally against adulteration was held from Roshanpura to Lal Paradevin in Bhopal.


Madhya Pradesh cabinet approved The Penal Laws ( Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill 2020, which provides for those indulging in food adulteration to be sent to jail for life. Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh Narottam Mishra declared the cabinet's decision after the bill was approved.


Earlier, this provision of punishment regarding food adulteration was six months jail which was increased to three years jail term.
