Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones passed away following a cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Friday. He was in Mumbai for the commentary panel of the IPL's official broadcaster Star with his countryman Brett Lee. Reportedly, he had a severe heart attack in the lobby of the hotel where the panel stayed.
Star, the broadcaster of the ongoing IPL released a statement expressing grief over the sudden demise of one of the charismatic presence in the commentating world.
Jones played 52 tests scoring 3631 runs at a hefty average of 46.55 with 11 centuries. He played 164 One Dayers wearing the Baggy Green for Australia scoring 6063 runs with seven centuries and 46 fifties.
Jone's famously remembered for his gutsy double hundred in a tied test pf 1986-87 against India in Chennai.
