From today, covid vaccination drive begins for 18+

Source - Zee News Throughout India, lakhs of people are getting affected by the second wave of covid-19. Thousands of people are dying every day, also the number of curing is increasing. But the present scenario of the country is terrible. At the beginning of the vaccination drive, i.e., Phase-I which was launched on January 16, 2021, in India, where all the people who are the Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front-Line Workers (FLWs) were injected the first doses of vaccines. After that, phase-II started from March 1 and April 1, where all the people above 45+ were given the doses of covid-19 vaccine. In the last month, the government had launched a new vaccination drive where all the people above 18+ would be permitted in getting the dose of vaccine. From today this vaccination drive is going to be held. This is the 3rd phase of the world’s largest covid-19 vaccination drive. They have extended this to ensure that the maximum numbers of Indians take the covid vaccine. As because the country is witnessing recent cases every second. India has reported over 3,00,000 recent cases daily for nine days in a row now. On Friday, again the country has recorded another global record. The number of cases that have been recorded in the last 24 hours is over 3,86,452. As of Friday morning’s reports, over 2.45 crore beneficiaries have registered themselves on the Co-WIN portal for phase 3 of vaccination. Though on April 28, on the first day of vaccination, over 1.37 crore had registered themselves. On April 29, over 1.04 crore, people had registered themselves. However, several states and UTs including Maharashtra and Delhi have reported a massive shortage of vaccines. On Friday, the Government of India had stated, “over 1 crore coronavirus vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered.” They had also added, “nearly 20 lakh vaccine doses will also be received in addition by the states and UTs within the next three days.” From the data of Friday morning, it is clearly noted that the government has so far provided 16.33 crore vaccine doses to states and UTs free of cost. India was basically using two vaccines, one is COVISHEILD of Serum Institute of India and COVAXIN of Bharat Biotech. Recently India is using a third vaccine, Sputnik, which is presently manufactured abroad, but they will eventually manufacture it in India. On Friday, The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, “the total vaccination against the country has crossed 15.48 crore. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India stands at 15,48,54,096.”
