Group Captain Varun Singh, the only survivor of the Mi-17V5 chopper crash dies on Wednesday morning. after battling for his life for almost a week.
The massive chopper crash took place on December 8 which killed the first chief of the defense staff, General Bipin Rawat, and 13 others.
Singh passed away at the Air Force command Hospital in Bengaluru, With a very high percentage of burns, Varun's condition was critical and he was on life support. His condition was fluctuating throughout the treatment, though some reports said he started responding to the treatment.

In August, Singh was conferred with the Shaurya Chakra, India's third-highest peacetime gallantry award for displaying exemplary composure and skill when his Tejas aircraft developed a technical snag during a sortie in October 2020.
