Hoshangabad soon to be renamed as Narmadapuram!

Mr Chouhan, the CM announces the change


On Friday the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that Hoshangabad city of the state would also be renamed as Narmadapuram and the following proposal will be sent to the Centre in the meanwhile in the Narmada Jayanti program.

There was a gathering during the program where the CM asked whether the government shall change the name of Hoshangabad which quite actively people present there replied. He also added asking; "What should be the new name ?" to which people affirmatively replied "Narmadapuram".

The CM, therefore, exclaimed in his speech that soon the government would be sending the proposal to the Centre for the change and also the state government won't allow concrete structures near the river Narmada claiming; "sewage plants are being produced in the cities located on its banks".

Meanwhile, the BJP workers, Mr Ramehwar Sharma showed happiness towards Mr Chouhan's announcement and to celebrate the following, also burnt firecrackers, this Saturday morning. Earlier, the man also tried changing the name of the city.

Hence, he added," This is a historic moment. Narmada is the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. The city was therefore named after an attacker Hoshang Shah, but will be known after the lifeline Maa Narmada now, which is a matter of happiness for all, I thank the Cm for making this announcement by respecting the sentiments of the people of the state".

Several other leaders also greeted the CM post the announcement. However, the state Congress spokesperson Mr Gupta termed the following announcement as a ploy to divert the attention of the people from several other important issues be it inflation or the rising fuel prices, not just prices he also evidently pointed; "BJP changes the names related to Mughals and not Britishers. It should focus of developments to give relief to the masses and not names".
