Kozhikode: The incident took place in the early morning on Tuesday at Cheruvadi Pazhamparambu in Kodiyathur grama panchayat in Mukkam. A 30-year-old man, Saheer Kuttyali killed his wife, Muhsila (20) by slitting her throat while she was asleep.

Saheer’s parents heard a loud noise from his room early in the morning. They rushed to check but Saheer would not open the door. His parents called their relatives living next door. Sensing that he was in grave trouble, he fled from the room but his relatives caught him.
Muhsila was found in a pool of blood. The police took Saheer into custody. Saheer confessed that he would suspect his wife, Muhsila of infidelity. He had started doubting his wife and it would affect him mentally. This slowly instilled sleep disorder in him. He was awake till Monday night also. The whole act was quite impulsively done, the statements say. Mukkom Circle Inspector S. Nizam said that a case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. A post mortem was conducted on the body of the victim at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The police are still probing for more details.
The couple got married on 5th September 2020, i.e. 6 months ago. It was an arranged marriage. Saheer was working in Gulf and had returned eight months ago due to Covid-19. He has 4 brothers and one sister and he was staying with his parents and wife in Pazhamparambu. He is known to be a friendly person. Soon after his marriage, Saheer deleted numbers of his family and friends, although he was doing painting works here. He had deliberately cut all contacts with everyone.
The accused was subjected to forensic and DNA tests. He would be produced in the magistrate’s court on Wednesday, the police said.
