She successfully clinched gold at the ongoing World Cadet Wrestling Championships, which was hosted in the Japanese capital, on Sunday. Priya Malik’s gold medal win in Budapest is no mean feat as she has been striking gold frequently. Priya Malik has won the gold medal in the 2019 edition of Khelo India in Pune and then clinched gold in the same year at the 17th School Games that were held in Delhi. Apart from these wins, Priya also won two more gold medals the following year i.e. 2020. However, the news sent social media into a tizzy, mixing it with the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games. #PriyaMalik has been one of the top trends on Twitter. While a Union minister posted a congratulatory message for the wrestler, many, including Bollywood actors, politicians mistook Priya for winning the ‘Olympic’ medal and posted congratulatory messages on social media.
