J&K: 7 MILITANTS INCLUDING AGH CHIEF KILLED IN TWO ENCOUNTERS

Encounters in Shopian and Pulwama


Two encounters took place between the security forces and the militants in the Shopian and Pulwama district of South Kashmir.


Shopian District encounter

The Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir’s police had launched a joint operation after receiving inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area. According to the reports, the encounter took place in the Shopian district on Thursday evening, three terrorist, belonging to the Ansar Ghazwat-ul- Hind group were killed, while two others are believed to be hiding inside a local mosque, Jan Mohalla. In this incident, four army soldiers, including an officer have been injured.

The local Kashmir police state, that a full effort, to get the two militants to surrender was made. The militant's brother of a militant was brought and the following morning parents of the militants were brought, however, they refused to surrender. In total five militants were killed—two from Hizbul Mujahideen, one from Lashkar-e-Taiba ( LeT ) and two from AGH. Similarly, a search and combing operation was launched since two militants including the AGH chief Imtiyaz Shah had fled from the Shopian encounter site. The lead was developed to the Nawbugh area of Tral in Pulwama district.


Tral Area encounter

The second encounter took place on Friday morning in the Tral area of Pulwama district where 2-3 terrorists were believed to be trapped. The local police reported that Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH) chief, terrorist Imtiyaz Shah, has been killed in the encounter in Tral. The joint operation is still underway. The security forces are trying to ascertain the identity of the killed terrorists.


Meanwhile, internet services have been snapped in the Shopian and Pulwama districts. The AGH has been coordinating with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in Jammu and Kashmir.
