J&K advocate Babar Qadri shot dead.

Advocate and Tv Panelist Babar Qadri shot dead in Srinagar

Advocate Babar Qadri, a well-known Jammu, and Kashmir established lawyer and Tv panelists were shot dead by an unknown gunman in Srinagar's Hawal residence around 6.25 pm on Thursday evening.

According to reports, the unidentified gunman opened fire at Babar Qadri on Thursday evening. He was taken to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar where the doctors declared him to be dead as he reached the hospital premise.

The J&K Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former chief minister Omar Abdullah have condemned the attack. “The sense of tragedy is all the more because he warned of the threat. Sadly his warning was his last tweet,” Abdullah said.

On September 13 of this year, Babar Qadri being a vocal analyst tweeted that "Abolition of Art 370 and art 35 A was never done for the interest of Indian people rather it was done to promote capitalists. Soil & sand is being excavated by companies now, which was a source of livelihood to poor Kashmiri. Jahlim and Hokarsar are being dredged out by companies."

Babar Qadri in his last tweet on September 21 he urged the state police administration to register FIR against this Shah Nazir who has spread the wrong campaign for which he works for. "This is a true statement can lead to a threat to my life."

This bold move on Qadri occurred less than 24 hours after BJP worker and chairmen of Khag block development Council (BDC) Bhupinder Singh was also shot down in Dalwash village in central Kashmir's Budgam district.
