Sources said, Jalil, sent his resignation to Chief Minister P Vijayan, which has been forwarded to the Governor. Jaleel has confirmed his resignation by writing a post on Facebook. A day earlier, Jalil filed a petition in the Kerala High Court to quash the Lokayukta order.
The Lokayukta bench had submitted the report to the Chief Minister on Friday. The report said that Jaleel should not continue in the ministerial post as allegations of misuse of power, nepotism, and favoritism are proved against him. The Lokayukta gave his decision on the complaint of the leader of the Muslim Youth League.
The complaint filed in November 2018 stated that Jaleel appointed his nephew Adeeb as the general manager of the Kerala State Minority Development Finance Corporation, following the rules. Despite Adib being a manager in a private bank, he was appointed.
