In connection to two bomb blasts at the airport run by the Indian Air Force in Jammu early on Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered an FIR under the provisions of the unlawful activities prevention act (UAPA). The first explosion took place at 1:37 AM while the second explosion took place at 1:42 AM.
According to the sources, 2 people have sustained some minor injuries from the sprinters from the blasts.
The Defence PRO Lt. Colonel Devender Anand said they have reported no damage to the equipment present there. An investigation is on and further details are awaited, he added.
They have registered the case under Sections 16 and 18 of UAPA which relate to conspiracy and commission of terrorist acts, sources said.
Senior NIA officials, who were already in Kashmir valley over investigations into some other case, have been asked to reach Jammu. An NSG team is also arriving from Delhi.
Also, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh talked with the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal HS Arora about the explosion. Also, the Defence Minister's office stated that Air Marshal Vikram Singh will reach Jammu to take stock of the situation.
The police have arrested two people from the explosion area they added that soon after the explosion, police dispatch a bomb disposal squad and a team of experts to the technical area.
Also, Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a suspected militant from a nearby shopping mall in the jurisdiction of Trikuta Nagar police station with an IED.
Sources said that an over-ground worker was also apprehended along with the militant.
