Killing 5 and injuring 15, Maoists blowed up a bus full of jawans

"Five DRG personnel, including the driver, were killed in the explosion," he informed PTI. Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and bodies and injured personnel was evacuated from the forest. The injured personnel is being airlifted to Raipur in an Indian Air Force chopper for treatment.

Earlier while confirming the incident, the state’s Director General of Police DM Awasthi had claimed over 20 security personnel onboarded the bus.


The bus was passing along the under-construction Barsoor-Palli road surrounded by a dense forest of Abhujmad when the Naxals triggered a landmine blast near a culvert, the impact was such that the bus fell off the culvert, reported by the police officer.


Those who killed were figured out as head constables Pavan Mandavi and Jailal Uikey, constables Karah Dehari and Several Salaam and assistant constable Vijay Patel and the police driver, Karan Dehari. In Bastar, this has been the biggest Maoist attack since November 2020 IED blast in which two CoBRA officers were shot down to death and eight injured in Sukma.

CM Bhupesh Baghel castigated the attack.“Maoists are frustrated as they are losing ground... Operations against the Maoists will be intensified,” he justified in the above-said statement.


Governor Anusuiya Uikey expressed her deepest condolences over the Naxal incident in which four jawans martyred and wished for their speedy recovery. Officials have been instructed to provide them with the best treatment and the DG to monitor the situation, the official press release of the government said.
