The boat library was curated to appreciate the beauty of Kolkata while reading a book on a peaceful sail on the river Hoogly.
The "city of joy" has yet again shown its love for literature. On January 26, Kolkata launched the first-ever library-on-a-boat. The West Bengal Transport Corporation in collaboration with a heritage book store has undertaken this action. An officer has said, this is the first of its kind initiative.
The boat library was curated keeping with the thought that one can appreciate the beauty of Kolkata while reading a book on a peaceful sail on the river Hoogly.
A selection of over 500 books in both English and Bengali will be available for choice. The Young Readers' Boat Library would take people on a three-hour-long trip. The trip will begin at Millenium Park up till Belur Math jetty and return.
The official also said there will be 3 trips on all weekdays. The boat contains a free WiFi facility as well. A ride on the boat will cost Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children.
The boat-library will host activities like storytelling, dramatized readings, poetry sessions, book launches, and more.
This might arise to be a perfect hub for the bibliophiles.
