A 23-year-old MBA student was allegedly gang-raped by Unidentified people on the outskirt of the city Mysuru near Lalitpur while she was returning from the forest area on Tuesday Night.
She was studying in a private college in Mysuru.
The student, who was returning with her male friend, was on her way to Chamundi foothills when they were attacked by a few people in an inebriated condition. The gang attacked the boy with stones and injured him. They then dragged the girl and allegedly raped her.
After the attack, the gang fled from the spot, after which the girl and the injured boy reached a private hospital before his friends were alerted about the incident.
The girl is said to be under shock and is being treated at a private hospital. A complaint has been filed at the Alanahalli police station.
Police inspected the scene of the crime and have registered a case.
Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters in Delhi that he has already directed the director-general of police, Praveen Sood, to take steps to catch the culprits.
“They are both students. At around 7.30 pm on Tuesday night, they went to the forest area near the helipad. Some stranger people who were following them have done this. At around 1.30 am, both got admitted to a hospital. In the morning, a letter was received from the hospital. An FIR has been registered. Further inquiries are on.
Nobody has been arrested for the crime yet.
