A 24-year-old woman was held captive by her live-in partner, a businessman, and was raped and assaulted for days.
When her friend released her photos showing signs of brutality that were meted out to her by her live-in partner, the police administration of Kerala swang into action.
The woman (24) - a model from in Ernakulam- had been forcibly confined in a flat near Marine drive for 22 days and was brutally assaulted and raped by her live-in partner, Martin Joseph Pulicott, a businessman.
The woman managed to escape when the accused went to fetch food. She then took refuge in the vicinity, and weeks later, on 8th April, mustered enough courage to complain to the police station.
When the police took no visible action, her friend released pictures depicting the bruise abs scars inflicted upon her. Initially, the woman was hesitant in filing a complaint as she anticipated that Martin would release her photos and videos that it took of her from time to time.
The accused is absconding and had applied for anticipatory bail at the Kerala High Court. The Kerala women's rights panel has pulled up the police for the delay in the investigation and directed the police for a detailed examination.
HOWEVER, Mr. C. Nagaraju, the commissioner of Kochi police, has assured that all efforts are on to arrest the culprit at the earliest. In contrast, the trial court has directed the police to file a detailed report by Friday. This had forced the police to constitute a special investigation team to solve the case when reports last came in.
