Naval Sailor Found Dead Onboard, Mumbai
The sailor found dead two days later returning to work after leave.
Ramesh Choudhary 22-years-old Navy sailor found dead in his INS Betwa (F39) cabin at Mumbai.
The body sustained a bullet injury on the head. The body was discovered after the deceased's colleagues searched for him after he didn't appear for the routine attendance, long after the scheduled time. The incident has occurred by 9:30 AM. Deceased's rifle was found next to him. No suicide note has been acquired from the scene yet.
Choudhary was posted at INS (Indian National Sailor) Betwa, Brahmaputra-class frigate, Mumbai, he was an Electrical Artificer (Power) 5 rank. He started off his sail from Jodhpur, his family members consist of his parents and a sister. The incident had occurred two days later, he returned from the leave.
An official of Colaba police station said the mishap occurred by 9:30 AM when the crew members of the ship came to call Choudhary after he didn't come for the attendance. They found him in his cabin lying dead with a gunshot in his head. It seems like, the deceased has aimed the target at his head and pressed the trigger. After fetching him to the hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The body has been sent for the postmortem. No suicide letter has been acquired yet from the scene. The ship was anchored at the Lion Gate harbor for the last 6 days.
The crew members also confirmed not noticing any abnormal behavior of the deceased. The reason for suicide is uncertain.
