In a graded manner, schools will reopen in Odisha
Odisha government has decided to reopen schools for classes 9-12 from November 16th after nine months of lockdown. However the academic institutions will remain closed, only schools headed by School and Mass Education Department will open as [per guidelines Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Classes have been cleaned and sanitized preparing for the reopening. Higher educational institutions will be open for research scholars and postgraduate students in Science and Technology requiring laboratory and experimental facilities.
Since the outbreak, teachers have been evaluating examination papers along with conducting online classes. Although Odisha's remote areas have poor internet connectivity due to which only 22 lakh out of 60 lakhs students have been attending the classes.
The government has decided to review the situation again on November 16 regarding the reopening of swimming pools, cinema halls, and entertainment complexes.
After assessing the situation in districts and local municipalities places of worship will be thrown to public use. The government has also relaxed the limit in the gathering on marriage and funeral occasions.
The state recorded a slump in Covid cases for the past 12 days with 2000 cases per day. With approximately 12 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state's Covid fatality numbers scaled to 1320 and 1470 active cases pushing the toll to 2,90,116.
