Odisha Stone Quarry Blast, Nine Casualties Reported


The Casualties were taken to the hospital soon after the incident


A blast occurred at a stone quarry in the Rayagada district of Odisha on Friday. Three laborers were killed and six were critically injured during this blast. The incident took place on Friday afternoon when the laborers were loading chips on the tractor and a sudden blast happened.


Three of them instantly died after the blast rocked the quarry and the other six of them were hit by the boulders and stone pieces. Out of the three, two of them were women. The victims are identified Buda Sabar (50), Pantul Sabar (45), Suku Sabar (50), Balia Sabar (10), and Samiyan Sabar (12).


As soon as the incident took place the Police team rushed to the site. The injured laborers were admitted to the Gunupur hospital.


An investigation has been started to find out the cause of the blast at the extraction site, the Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M said.
