Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar and his associates allegedly murdered junior national champion wrestler at Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi.
Two-time Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar was brought to the Chhatrasal Stadium, by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, today. According to the officials, they brought Kumar to the spot in order to recreate the crime scene of May 4th and 5th. On the intervening night of these days, wrestler Sagar Dhankhar got into a brawl with Sushil Kumar and lost his life in the fight.
According to an officer's byte given to the Press Trust of India, they stated that "A team of Crime Branch investigating the case went to the Chhatrasal Stadium in connection with the probe. Sushil Kumar was also taken to the spot to recreate the scene of the crime and find out the sequence of events that unfolded on the day of the incident."
The police questioned Sushil Kumar on the events of May 4th and 5th. According to sources, he seemed nervous and changed his statements frequently. The police further asked about his friends and associates who were present at the time of the crime. They tried to verify the video in which the 23-year-old wrestler, Sagar Dhankhar, was been being beaten by Sushil Kumar.
Sushil confessed he was at the Chhatrasal stadium at the time of the crime. His alibi was that he was mediating fights between two groups. However, this statement kept changing as he got nervous through the course of the interrogation process.
The special cell of Delhi Police arrested Sushil Kumar on Sunday. He had tried to flee after the alleged murder of wrestler Sagar Dhankhar, despite being accused of the crime. A Delhi court granted him six days of custody, effective immediately.
