Srinagar: The Indian and Pakistani military forces agreed upon a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and other sectors. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party welcomed this agreement between the two nations.
They believe the agreement will be rewarding for the people living along the borders. Both nations are expected to abide by the statement of the ceasefire in spirit.
PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti tweeted that dialogue was the only way forward. This can put an end to the repetitive cycle of bloodshed and violence.
This decision has been effective since Wednesday midnight. It happened after a meeting between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations sat together to discuss the terms.
As per the joint statement, the aim is to achieve mutual benefits of peace and prosperity. People along the border deserve a normal life. The DGMOs of both nations addressed each other’s concerns. They discussed avoiding issues that have the potential to cause violence in the future.
