PM modi launched 64,000 crore health scheme to boost health infrastructure in the country.



PM Modi on Monday launched the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PMABHIM) with an outlay of 64,000 crores from Varanasi.


This mission aims to tackle any situation on health infrastructures like Covid and robust public health system in both rural and urban areas and also strengthen surveillance and research so that states can be capable of efficiently handling any health emergency in the country.


This scheme 64,000 crores over was announced by the center during the budget session in Feb this year for over six years (till the financial year 2025-26). This scheme will be in addition to the national health mission.


The amount is 3 times more than what was prime minister's national relief fund (PMNRF) got in 2 years.

1. The overall budget of PMNRF, since it was established in 1948, stands at Rs 3,800 crore. Between 2014-15 and 2018-19.


2. PMNRF also provides ex-gratia to the king of the families of those killed in natural calamities like floods, cyclones, earthquakes, victims of major accidents and riots.


3. PM cares, on the other hand, is a dedicated national fund to deal with any kind of emergency or distress situation like the Covid-19 outbreak.
