Police Constable killed after being kidnapped by the Naxals in Chhattisgarh.


The IG mentioned that "Punem, who was posted at Gangaloor police station of the district, was on leave and had gone to Pondum, located around 450 km away from capital Raipur.


On March 20, Saturday evening, Constable Sannu Punem was kidnapped by a group of Naxals from Pondum village under Bhairmgarh police station limits in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) said his body was found this morning, March 21, near a stream close to Keshkutul village. The IG mentioned that "Punem, who was posted at Gangaloor police station of the district, was on leave and had gone to Pondum, located around 450 km away from capital Raipur." After being informed about the incident, a police team immediately reached the spot and the body was send off for the post mortem.


The IG said that, "Prima facie, it seems that he was killed with sharp-edged weapons, but the exact cause of the death will be known after the autopsy," and that a search operation has been launched in the area to trace the Naxals.
