Two teenage youth from Jharkhand got arrested by the Palamu police in the case of rape and murder of a pregnant teenager from Jharkhand.
They were identified as Niraj Kumar Singh and Om Prakash Singh. Both aged 18 years old and residents of Barahi village under Hussainabad police station. (Representational Image)
Two mobile phones and a motorcycle used in the act got seized by the police.
A special investigation team was established to look into the matter. The case found some direction when the team found some information from the mobile calls made to the girl. Early investigations show that the youth killed the minor with the help of an accomplice as she was pregnant and didn’t oblige to his demands of marrying him or undergoing an abortion.
The girl went missing from her home under Hussainabad police station in Daltonganj on 21st February. Her body was recovered 6 days later on 27th February from a riverbed. The girl’s relatives’ involvement was suspected by the family members.
According to the sources, the Palamu superintendent of police (SP) Sanjeev Kumar revealed that one of the accused was the girl’s lover. The girl got called by both the accused over phone calls. Taking her to an isolated place, they stabbed her to death and disposed of the body in the riverbed.
