Punjab CM Announces 8 New Schemes For Women's Empowerment on International Women's Day

Chandigarh: The Punjab state government celebrated Women’s Day by introducing 8 new schemes for the empowerment of women. The Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh stated the need for women to prove their abilities in tackling life challenges. They deserve to receive such opportunities to showcase and nurture their abilities.


Singh announced 2047 appointment letters for female teachers for the Education Department.

The government will collaborate with United Nations and other global organizations to ensure the upliftment of women.

The CM regarded these schemes as beneficial to better the safety and protection of females. He stated his desire to reduce crime against women. The improvement will be on an all-round basis. Health, employment, safety, lifestyle will be key sectors.

He also announced projects with UNDP, UN Women, UN Population, J.PAL, and FUEL to install the schemes. The government has launched Sanjh Shakti Helpdesks at 382 police stations and 181 Sanjh Shakti Helpline. These will serve by helping women to ensure effective handling of their grievances. Children and senior citizens will also be able to access these helplines. Singh announced 2047 appointment letters for female teachers for the Education Department.

The government has made rides free for women in government buses. PPCC President Sunil Jhakar’s suggestion is to allow 50% reserved seats for women in these buses.
